Republican's War
Republican's Spin: Shameless Lies

We want to find solutions. We want to discover truth. We want to base thought upon fact and solid proofs.

Do not base your beliefs on what you are told in the commercial news media. The important facts you need to know are not going to be there.

“Sometimes I wonder whether the world is being run by smart people who are putting us on or by imbeciles who really mean it.” - Mark Twain

Dear Republicans:

The solution for this war situation is very simple. Declare Peace.  Not victory, but simply Peace.  Keep parades and flag waving at home in America, we do not want to be viewed by the rest of the world as gloating. Its bad enough they fear us to be a bully.  We have acted arrogantly and they know it. We need to now act humbly and show the world some respect.

Anyway,  make it a great holiday, and announce that we are leaving As Soon As Possible. Bring our men home, get all of our contractors home and apologize. Every day from declaring Peace until we are all out you should make speeches apologizing. We need to make sure the world is totally saturated with our apology but especially the Muslim world.  Every time something ugly happens, like insurgent attacks, delay plans for that area by a few days... but keep saying now there is peace, we are leaving... "as soon as this shooting stops."

Remind them that we were trying to help, we were afraid of WMD's and we were genuinely convinced they posed an immediate threat to world peace.

We just need to get out of there before the whole region falls into war.  It is destined to happen, the Brits messed around there after WWI and just made it worse, we need to get out and away so when it turns bad they are not any more mad at us than they already are. You are not going to stop these factions from destroying each other and Saddam Hussein was the pin in the grenade, now that he is removed this is destined to blow up.  Iran and Iraq will unite, Syria, Jordan and Saudi Arabia will unite and there's going to be a serious bloodletting.  The less we are involved the better for future Americans.

Look, History is not going to make us look as bad if we apologize for good intentions. If we don't we will be seen as an arrogant bully. And that's not good for America going forward.

Thank you,

John Rosengarten

Wise people have observed that some people make things happen, some people watch things happen and the rest wonder what happened.

Stop the Republican's War

We have also heard it said that great minds discuss ideas, average minds discuss events and simple minds discuss people.

Common sense and reason needed to be cultivated because without them civilization fails and we fall into ignorance.

YOU have to take responsibility for learning the truth because powerful interests - in some cases a few individuals, in others it is a coalition of literally thousands - seek to keep you ignorant and uninformed. Think for yourself, being a 'ditto-head' probably means you are letting some one else do your thinking for you.

What is good for you, your family, your community, your state?  Peace, rule of law, respect for the rights of individuals.

So, let us proceed to understand what the truth is, and not what the propagandists and marketers of political spin want to discuss. One line of thought leads to understanding and mutual respect and has long been known and understood by diplomats and journalists, the other line of thought leads to division, anger, yelling and disruption, and has long been used to distract and obstruct human progress.

WHY THE REPUBLICAN'S WAR IS WRONG

These are the five biggest officially documented lies the Republicans employed to promote the war.

  1. Weapons of Mass Destruction. The weapons have not been found.  President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney accused Iraq of having Weapons of Mass Destruction and materials for production of chemical and biological weapons.
  2. Iraq Had Ties to Al Qaeda. Despite the CIA and FBI repeatedly telling the Administration that there was no tie between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda, White House made this claim even though the evidence indicated that they were mortal enemies — one secular, the other fundamentalist.
  3. Saddam Hussein as a Threat to the United States. In fact, Hussein was a weak dictator, leading a gang of thugs in bullying Kurdish towns in the North and repressing Shiite enemies in the South.
  4. Saddam Hussein as a Threat to Iraq's Neighbors. Not true, as a matter of fact, Iraq is surrounded by countries with far superior military forces. Turkey, Iran and Israel were all capable of obliterating any aggressive move by Iraq.
  5. Liberation of the People of Iraq. There are brutal dictators throughout the world, many supported over the years by Washington, whose people need “liberation” from their leaders. This is not a persuasive argument since for Iraq, it's about oil. Before the war it was predicted that no long term good would come of this and now we observe that the occupation of Iraq has become a magnet for increasing violence, anarchy and insurrection.
THE BIG LIE

“All this was inspired by the principle - which is quite true in itself - that in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously.” - Adolf Hitler, Mein Kampf

Stop the Republican's War

VICTIMS OF WAR When war is going on, help for its victims may be slow in coming, or never arrive at all. The victims can themselves become pawns of war: deliberately driven from their homes, abused or tortured, their towns and villages bombed or burned. Large areas of land become uninhabitable, poisoned by dangerous chemicals and littered with unexploded weapons that go on killing for years to come. Some people - often children - are forced by governments or self-appointed leaders to join in the fighting and commit brutal acts and killings themselves. In war zones law and order disappear, and no-one is safe.

MAN-MADE DISASTER Unlike earthquakes, floods and volcanic eruptions, war is a disaster created entirely by people against people. War is never an accident: making war is always someone's decision. Nations spend vast amounts of money on training soldiers to fight and kill. They spend even more on devising and manufacturing weaponry and machines for fighting and killing. That is not the only expense. Huge sums are also needed for dealing with the damage when a war is officially ended.

Nominate Cindy Sheehan for the Nobel Peace Prize

Nobel Nominating Committee
Stockholm, Sweden

Honorable and Distinguished Committee Members:

I believe it would be fitting and proper to get Cindy Sheehan nominated for a Nobel Peace prize.

When the meek ask for peace, and the mighty declare war, it is heroic to stand for the truth.  Cindy Sheehan has gone to great lengths to call for an end to the Republican's War.  She has been reviled by the Republican press, and borne great insult with great dignity.

As witnessed by millions on TV, Cindy Sheehan advanced the cause of Peace by trying to get the Republican administration to stop the Iraq occupation.  Everything she did was valiant and honorable, and I feel that she merits your consideration for the Nobel Peace prize.  She sacrificed her personal health and well-being, friendships and loves to stand up and protest the war in Iraq.

Thank You,

John L. Rosengarten, American Citizen

Accomplishments of the Republican Congress 1994-2006

The Invasion and Occupation of Iraq is now the United States' longest continuing state of war.  This war was started by the Republicans to make profits for several large corporations who are prospering under their leadership.

The Republicans have passed legislation in states and at the national level to GIVE our natural resources to the Energy companies.  When an oil company buys a barrel of oil from OPEC, say Saudi Arabia, the King of Saudi Arabia gets paid the going rate that day for that oil. Americans citizens, who own the oil under America get paid NOTHING!  The Republicans have written the law so that the oil companies get the oil for free!

The Republicans took money from military contractors and energy companies to pay for Republican election campaigns and then gave those companies in return unbridled access to make policy and affect the regulations of their industries.  Who owns Halliburton stock?  Who would have guessed its the same people who have bought and paid for Republican campaigns since 1994.

A "Clean Skies" bill was passed by the Republicans that makes our skies more toxic and deadly.  Energy companies bought legislation from the Republicans  that changed a century of wise anti-monopoly legislation.  We are seriously thinking about permitting the use of coal again, did the energy department permit this?  The environmental protection agency?  No, the Republicans  filled those bureaus with their people who suppressed the mission of protecting America.

People who are injured have a right to sue those who injure them.  Many political contributors, doctors, health maintenance organization managers, drug companies, hospitals, pharmacy chains, they all wanted to not get sued for making mistakes.  The Republicans took their contributions and restricted your rights to pursue justice in a court of law.

Rich lawyers and bankers and stockbrokers all stuffed the pockets of Republicans at every level of government and the Republicans  changed thousand of laws to the detriment of "We the people" and to the benefit of the "bottom line."

The Republicans changed the copyright laws to make lawyers and corporate owners rich at the expense of people who now pay more, often for less.  The people who own the rights to music are men in suits, not musicians. The Disney lawyers and Michael Jackson were very pleased.

The Republicans have removed limits on how wealthy the rich corporations can become and not pay their fair share of tax.  The wealthy, who since Theodore Roosevelt have paid a proportionally higher share, now actually pay lower rates than working citizens or even no taxes at all!

The Republicans repealed the tax on inheritances, probate taxes, which they called 'death tax' and made a lot of noise about. Ask yourself, who do you know who ever was rich enough to pay estate taxes? Anyone at all? If you passed away would your estate be taxed?

So the Republicans repealed the law taxing windfall inheritances.  We can be sure the Hilton girls and the other children of the immensely wealthy will spend the extra inheritance more wisely than the government would.  Do you wonder if all the kids with no medical care are going to sleep better knowing that the richest one percent are double millionaires instead of just millionaires.

Nominate Cindy Sheehan for the Nobel Peace Prize

President James E. Carter
c/o James E. Carter Presidential Library and Museum
Plaines, GA

Dear President Carter:

I have long been a fan and in fact my first presidential ballot was when I voted for you over Gerald Ford in 1976.

I never thought I would have any occasion to write you, but it turns out you may be one of the few people in the world who can assist me in my goal, getting Cindy Sheehan nominated for a Nobel Peace prize.

Following her "resignation" as being the face of the peace movement last month, I reexamined my own commitment to peace.  Briefly, I was a hippy semi-activist in the sixties and I have always known in my heart that war is inherently unjust and evil.  I was involved in many protests against the Vietnam war and domestic suppression of civil rights.

However, I became enfranchised into the system over the years, as I became a parent and grand parent, paying bills, holding down a job.  I had, in the spiritual sense, lost my way.  In the terms of the sixties, I had 'sold out to the man.'

Now I really believe that what Cindy Sheehan did was valiant and honorable, and I feel that she deserves to be at least considered for the Nobel Peace prize.  She sacrificed her personal health and well-being, friendships and loves to stand up and protest the war in Iraq.

I have decided to at least contribute my time and mental abilities to continuing her protest and I have started work on a web site which I hope will serve to witness the evils this war represents.  I personally blame not just the current president for this mess, but the whole Republican party, and I want to impress on those who I may, that it is not Bush's war, but the 'Republican's War.'

Towards this end, I have purchased the domain www.republicanswar.com and have started to compose my thoughts there, on the philosophy that "if we build it, they will come."

In any event, you and your efforts are noticed and appreciated by, I believe, millions of "political outsiders" who lost our voice when you left the White House.

I would gladly vote for you again, if that were only possible.  People blamed you for the domestic disaster that the Nixon-Ford economy caused and no one remembers that it was largely your efforts to turn the economy around that resulted in the recoveries of the nineties, which Reagan ended up taking credit for.

You, when faced with provocations from the middle east, honestly did "support the troops" by having the wisdom to not "start a land war in Asia."

I would like to take this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to tell you that I applaud your recent "worst administration" statement, both as you meant it and as it was subsequently interpreted by your detractors.  This is easily the worst administration of my lifetime and I have been paying attention to politics since Eisenhower's farewell made me wonder what the "military-industrial complex" was.  In fact, I so wish you would stand up and decry what has happened to American rights under the patriot act.

Anyway, before you have to turn to other matters (for I imagine that even ex-presidents have too much to do) would you please consider nominating Cindy for the Peace Prize?

I was going to do it myself, but it turns out only university chancellors, certain government officials and past recipients can officially nominate a candidate.

God Bless America, God Bless you and yours, and a heart-felt Thank You,

John L. Rosengarten

You Can Help

This e-mail was returned to me, unfortunately.  I now see its hard to get such a message to an ex-Nobel Prize Laureate.  So, If you know President Carter, or have a way to get a copy of this to him, it would further this just cause!

Self-Worth

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.  It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us.  We ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?”  Actually who are you NOT to be?  You are a child of God.  Your playing small does not serve the world.  There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you.  We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.  Not just in some of us, it is in everyone.  And, as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people the permission to do the same.  As we are liberated form our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.

-Marianne Williamson 1992

Thoughtfulness

Never underestimate the power of a kind word or deed.

Unity

At the heart of each of us, whatever our imperfections, there exists a silent pulse of perfect rhythm., a complex of wave forms and resonances, which is absolutely individual and unique, and yet which connects us to everything in the universe.

The past is history, the future is a mystery, and this moment is a gift.  That is why this moment is called ‘the present’.

-Deepak Chopra

Fortitude

Attitude

The longer I live, them more I realize the impact of attitude on life.  Attitude, to me, is more important than facts.  It is more important than the pat, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than successes, than what other people think, say or do.  It is more important than appearance, giftedness, or skill,  It will make or break a company…a church…a home.  The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day.  We cannot change our past…we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way.  We cannot change the inevitable.  The only thing we can do is play on the only string we have, and that is our attitude.  I am convinced that life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it.  And so it is with you…we are in charge of our attitudes.

-Charles Swindoll

Vision

The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.

-Franklin D. Roosevelt

Limits

The mind is the limit.  As long as the mind can envision the fact that you can do something, you can do it—as long as you really believe 100 percent.

-Arnold Schwarzenegger

A man is literally what he thinks.

-James Allen

Spirit

The Best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen, not touched….but are felt in the heart.
